North Alabama chocolate shop in running for best in the nation title

Huntsville is home to some of the finest chocolate in the United States, according to the latest rankings from USA Today. Local favorite Pizzelle’s Confections is once again in the hunt for a national title, earning a nomination in the USA Today 10Best series for the 10 Best Chocolate Shops in the U.S.

A Consistent Contender

This marks the third consecutive year Pizzelle’s has secured a spot in this prestigious lineup. The shop previously claimed the top spot in 2024 and landed at #10 in 2025. USA Today collaborated with a panel of chocolate experts to curate the 20 nominees, specifically highlighting Pizzelle’s for its vibrant chocolate combinations, unique flavor profiles, and expert use of fair-trade Felchlin chocolate.

2026 Competition

Pizzelle’s finds itself in a diverse field of competitors this year, facing off against established shops from both major metropolitan hubs and similar-sized markets. Several 2025 Top 10 finishers are back in the running, including last year's reigning champion, LaRue Fine Chocolate from Greenville, SC, along with Miami's Garcia Nevett (#2) and Houston's Cacao & Cardamom (#3).

A Huntsville Staple

Founded by sisters Michelle Novosel and Caitlin Lyon, the shop first opened its doors at Lowe Mill in 2013, drawing inspiration from the eccentric world of Willy Wonka. In 2024, the team relocated to Campus 805 to expand their production space. Fans can visit their current shop at 2500 Clinton Ave. W, Suite D in Huntsville, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
