Pedestrian fatally struck on western Jefferson County road
The wreck happened at 1:38 a.m. Friday in the 5900 block of Pocahontas Road.

A tragic incident has occurred in western Jefferson County, where a pedestrian has been struck and killed.
Victim Identified
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office released the victim's identity on Monday. He was identified as 50-year-old Steven Earl Harris of Bessemer.
Details of the Accident
The fatal wreck occurred early Friday morning at 1:38 a.m. in the 5900 block of Pocahontas Road. Following the collision, Harris was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m.
Investigation Underway
According to reports covered by 205focus.com, the driver involved in the accident remained on the scene and promptly contacted 911. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death to determine exactly what happened that morning.
