U.S. House bill would provide $16.5 million for north Alabama infrastructure projects

North Alabama is set for a major infrastructure boost. U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, R-Monrovia, announced on Monday that the U.S. House is slated to vote on a new bill delivering $16.5 million in funding for vital regional projects.
Targeted Investment for Local Infrastructure
The funding arrives via the FY27 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development bill. As a member of the Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee, Strong highlighted the legislation’s focus on bolstering highways, spaceports, railroads, maritime assets, and airports across the country.
According to the official announcement, this capital is designated for key road improvements in Madison, Lawrence, and Morgan Counties. It also aims to expand essential transportation corridors serving Decatur, Madison, and Huntsville, while providing infrastructure upgrades at Huntsville International Airport and supporting energy reliability through a new natural gas pipeline.
Driving Growth in the Tennessee Valley
“As north Alabama leads in growth, innovation, and economic opportunity, I am committed to ensuring our infrastructure investments keep pace with that success,” Strong said in a news release. “I am proud to advance targeted investments for north Alabama that reduce traffic congestion, support our growing communities, and speed the delivery of transformational transportation projects.”
The congressman emphasized his dedication to the region's future, adding, “I will always work to strengthen the Tennessee Valley’s infrastructure, support continued economic growth, and improve quality of life for the families, workers, and businesses who call North Alabama home.”

The bill specifically targets several high-priority road developments to help manage the region's rapid expansion. Projects currently identified for this funding include:
- Northern Bypass
- Blake Bottom Road
- Wall Triana Highway
