Summer is winding down, which means the back-to-school season is officially here. Between grabbing new supplies and finalizing schedules, parents now have a convenient way to cross a critical item off their to-do list: student vaccinations.
Get Prepared at the Huntsville Clinic
To help families prepare for the upcoming school year, the Alabama Department of Health is hosting a free Back-to-School Shot Clinic. The event runs from July 20 through August 7 at the agency’s office, located at 301 Max Luther Drive NW, Huntsville, AL 35811.
This clinic is an ideal opportunity for new Alabama residents, students entering the 6th grade who need their required Tdap booster, or any student looking to catch up on their immunization schedule. Best of all, neither insurance nor appointments are required to participate.
Vaccination Requirements in Alabama

Current data indicates a significant need for increased immunization, as Alabama ranks 45th in the nation for child vaccination rates, with roughly 62.6% of school-age children fully vaccinated, according to America’s Health Rankings. While religious and medical exemptions remain permitted under state policy, philosophical or personal belief exemptions are not recognized.
