The entertainment and pageant communities are mourning the loss of LaToya Malcolm, an actress and former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist, who has passed away at the age of 35. The Miss Universe Jamaica organization shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram.
A Life of Passion and Purpose
Malcolm was a fixture in the entertainment industry for more than a decade, working as an actor, entertainer, and dance instructor, as reported by PEOPLE. Beyond the stage and screen, she was dedicated to community impact through the Transition project, which focuses on providing resources and training to help adolescents pursue new opportunities.
She gained further recognition during the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant. Earlier this year, she captured the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title, an achievement she reached while processing the loss of her father earlier in 2024.
A Legacy Remembered
In a poignant social media post following her pageant victory, Malcolm dedicated the win to her late father, writing, “My beloved father, Mr. Malcolm, this win was for you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud. I know you’re smiling down on me from heaven.”
The Miss Universe Jamaica organization issued a statement honoring her life, saying, “Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten.”
Current Miss Universe Jamaica titleholder Gabrielle Henry also paid tribute to Malcolm, highlighting how she lived her life with passion and noting that her passing is a profound loss for both her family and the broader Jamaican community.
