According to reports from The Associated Press, the flight was operated by the Peruvian company Aerodiana and had departed from the city of Ica. Nazca municipal officials confirmed the incident as the aircraft was en route to the famous archeological site.
Victims Identified
Peru’s Transportation Ministry released an official report identifying those killed in the crash. The victims included seven Italian citizens ranging in age from 18 to 54, two 52-year-old Spanish nationals, and two German citizens aged 77 and 78. The flight crew, identified as pilot Américo Salazar and copilot Irenka Guanilo del Carpio, also perished in the crash.
Official Response
President Keiko Fujimori has expressed her deep regret regarding the tragedy. She noted that a temporary suspension of airport operations is currently under consideration, pending further reports from the relevant ministries. Peruvian authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, though Aerodiana has not yet provided a comment.
