Five teenagers are facing serious charges following a violent shooting on Thursday that resulted in injuries to three individuals, including one of the suspects. Police Response and Investigation

Birmingham police and fire units responded to the 3200 block of Aspen Avenue Southwest at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Thursday. Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting a barrage of gunfire occurring near Wiggins Park. While initial reports indicated there were six victims, investigators later confirmed two people were found shot at the scene, while a third individual arrived at a hospital via private vehicle.

The victims include a 15-year-old boy, who sustained critical injuries, and a woman who suffered non-life-threatening wounds. The third injured person was identified as one of the shooting suspects. Police have not yet disclosed a motive for the incident.

Suspects Charged

Five individuals have been formally charged with two counts of first-degree assault, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and three counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. The suspects are identified as:

  • Cameron Arnold, 18
  • Lequent Mack, 19 (who remains hospitalized)
  • Cordaryl Strother, 19
  • A 16-year-old male whose identity is being withheld due to his age

Officers successfully apprehended the four uninjured suspects as they attempted to flee the scene on Thursday. Following the issuance of formal warrants on Saturday, authorities confirmed the group will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
