Auburn running back Jeremiah Cobb is stepping into the leadership role expected of him by head coach Alex Golesh and his staff as the Tigers prepare for the 2026 campaign.

A Proven Commodity

The rising senior from Montgomery established himself as the centerpiece of the Tigers' ground game in 2025. During his first season as a starter, Cobb racked up 969 rushing yards and five touchdowns. His impact was clear throughout the year, as he delivered five 100-yard performances—three of which occurred against SEC competition. By the end of the season, he ranked sixth in the conference in total rushing yards.

New Faces, New Pace

While Cobb shouldered a significant workload last year due to limited depth, the 2026 backfield will look different. Auburn has bolstered its roster with three impact transfers: Bryson Washington (Baylor), Nykahi Davenport (South Florida), and Tae Meadows (Troy). All three players arrive in Auburn having eclipsed the 600-yard rushing mark at their previous schools last season.

Cobb is already a fan of the new energy circulating through spring practice. "It’s been really fun. The new guys that have come in, the new coaches, everybody’s super excited -- especially when we come out here to practice. You can feel it; it’s a big difference," he said.

Thriving in the New Scheme

As Auburn looks to replace several key contributors from the 2025 roster, Cobb stands out as the most productive returning offensive weapon. With the coaching staff placing a renewed emphasis on a high-tempo rushing attack, his presence is vital.

"It’s definitely going to be a lot of fun," Cobb said of the new offensive scheme. "Being fast, you’ve got to be conditioned. I think it’s going to be fun. It’s fast, which I like."
