Alabama commitment excited by lessons from Elite 11 Finals QB competition

Thompson High School quarterback Trent Seaborn is no stranger to the spotlight. With four straight state championships, a 3-1 record in title games, and victories over programs like Auburn, Central-Phenix City, and Opelika, the 18-year-old has spent his career under intense pressure. Recently, he took that experience to Southern California, joining 19 other top signal-callers at the Elite 11 Finals in late May.

A Brotherhood of Competitors

Seaborn entered the prestigious event unsure of what to expect, fearing he might encounter ego-driven rivals. Instead, he found a supportive group of peers. "It was such a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience," Seaborn said. "Bonding with them was like a brotherhood experience. Going through the hardships the coaching staff put us through to make us bond, I thought it was cool. It was such a fun weekend of competition and fraternity."

The Alabama Connection

Among those competitors was fellow Alabama commitment Elijah Haven, the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country. Seaborn and Haven, who officially visited the Capstone together, bonded over their shared backgrounds and their mutual goal of recruiting future teammates to the Crimson Tide. For Seaborn, who committed to Alabama in October 2025, the addition of the elite prospect from Baton Rouge is a welcome challenge. "At Alabama, that’s what the whole identity is built on – having the best players coming in to compete," Seaborn explained.

Elite Lessons

While Seaborn did not secure a spot in the final showcase in Beaverton, Oregon, the experience provided invaluable lessons. Beyond the physical drills, he immersed himself in mental, emotional, and leadership training. "I brought so much stuff away from it," he noted. "I took so many notes, like from the section on leading by example. I definitely felt I belonged there."

His performance earned recognition from national analysts. Brooks Austin of The Film Guy Network ranked the reigning Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 7A Back of the Year eighth in his top 11, noting that the Thompson star is "so ready to do what Alabama wants to do." Additionally, reports indicated that Seaborn excelled during the Pro Day routine and looked composed throughout 7-on-7 drills.

Looking Ahead

With his focus now shifting to the upcoming season, Seaborn is preparing for an August 20 opener against Central-Phenix City. Having learned the value of media engagement during his time at the Elite 11, the quarterback remains as composed off the field as he is on it. "You have to enjoy doing the media stuff," Seaborn told 205focus.com. "I’ve been enjoying the whole process of interviewing."
