Auto supplier to convert massive Alabama factory into aluminum plant, creating 100 jobs
Operations should begin in late 2027.
Eufaula is set for an industrial boost as ALMAC Alabama has officially acquired a massive, 300,000-square-foot factory property located off State Docks Road. The site, formerly home to American Buildings, will be transformed into a facility focused on producing aluminum components for the electric vehicle market.
A Fresh Start for Eufaula Manufacturing
Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs confirmed the acquisition following an intensive 18-month process. While the purchase price remains undisclosed, the new investment signals a promising chapter for the local economy. ALMAC Alabama is currently gearing up for operations, which are slated to begin in late 2027.
The project is expected to create 100 new jobs distributed across two shifts. Mayor Tibbs also hinted at future growth potential, noting that it is possible another industry may share the property down the road.
Strategic Location and Future Outlook
The facility has a history of transition; the location previously saw a significant workforce reduction in 2020, followed by 79 employees losing their jobs last year when Nucor Buildings Group shifted operations to Texas. The 2020 layoffs involved 229 people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For ALMAC Alabama, Eufaula’s geography was a primary draw. Gyu Yong Kim, manager of the company, told WRBL that proximity to major automaking hubs like Hyundai and Kia played a critical role in their decision-making process.
"Eufaula is a great place for the new factory because it has good roads and great workers," Kim said, expressing gratitude for the local leadership. "Most of all, the warm welcome and strong support from the mayor and city leaders helped us decide to invest here."
