Costco is recalling 113,440 small kitchen appliances that has already burned someone

If you have a ZWILLING electric kettle in your kitchen, you need to check the model number immediately. Costco and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a significant recall affecting over 113,000 units in the United States due to a serious burn hazard.

Why the recall is happening

The recall, which was announced on May 14, involves ZWILLING Enfinigy 1.5-l and Enfinigy Pro 1.5-l electric kettles. The issue stems from the kettle handle, which can detach during use. This structural failure poses a major risk, as it allows scalding hot water to spill onto the user. So far, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels has logged 163 reports of handles loosening or snapping off, resulting in five injuries—including one case involving a second-degree burn.

Is your kettle affected?

The recall covers stainless steel kettles available in black, silver, rose, gold, and white. To confirm if your appliance is part of the recall, check the bottom of the unit for the brand name and the following model numbers:

  • Standard models: 53101-200 and 53101-201
  • Pro models: 53101-500, 53101-501, 53101-502, 53101-503, and 53101-504

These units were sold at Costco warehouses and online at Costco.com between September 2019 and November 2025. They were also sold at HomeGoods locations and online at zwilling.com from December 2019 through February 2026 for prices ranging from $120 to $200.

How to get a refund

If you own one of these kettles, stop using it immediately. According to 205focus.com, Costco members can simply return the affected unit to their local warehouse to receive a full refund. Alternatively, you can reach out to ZWILLING directly at 866-963-4583 or send an email to enfinigy-kettle-recall@zwilling.com to facilitate your refund process.
