Former Blount, McIntosh head coach joining Robertsdale staff
Josh Harris led McIntosh to the second-round of the Class 1A playoffs in 2025.
The Robertsdale Golden Bears are adding significant experience to their sideline. Josh Harris, the former head football coach at Blount and McIntosh, is set to join the staff at Robertsdale High School, pending final approval from the Baldwin County Board of Education.
New Roles in Central Baldwin County
Harris, who stepped down from his position at McIntosh earlier this spring, will transition into a role as the wide receivers coach under head coach Justin Jones. Additionally, Harris is slated to serve as an assistant basketball coach for the school, working under Tereance Pinkney.
"We look forward to having coach Harris in Central Baldwin County," said Robertsdale coach Justin Jones. Harris expressed similar enthusiasm regarding the move: "As I begin this new chapter, I am excited to join the Robertsdale Golden Bears family and look forward to building something special with the students, athletes, school and community."
Building a Legacy at McIntosh
During his two-year stint at McIntosh, Harris was instrumental in elevating the football program. After a 3-7 campaign in 2024, the team surged to an 8-4 record in 2025, ultimately reaching the second round of the Class 1A playoffs. That appearance marked the program’s first playoff berth since 2012.
"I want to begin by expressing my gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the head football coach, head basketball coach and athletic director at McIntosh High School," Harris noted in a statement. "During my time there, I worked to help change the culture and build programs centered around discipline, accountability, pride and family. I am proud to say that I leave McIntosh better than I found it."
Prior to his time at McIntosh, Harris served as the head coach at Blount High School in 2022.
Arrival of Joshua Harris Jr.
The transition is expected to include the arrival of Harris’ son, Joshua Harris Jr., to the Golden Bears' roster. The younger Harris is coming off a standout season, earning first-team Class 1A All-State honors as a wide receiver. In 2025, he hauled in 59 receptions for 1,074 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also contributing 36 tackles and 3 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
His athletic prowess extends to the hardwood as well, where he earned honorable mention All-State recognition in basketball, averaging 16 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals for the Deacons.
