Hewitt-Trussville star Corey Goguts named Alabama’s Miss Softball

Corey Goguts lets her play on the field do the talking. As it turns out, she has quite a lot to say.

The Hewitt-Trussville superstar and future Ole Miss standout was officially honored as Alabama’s Miss Softball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on Sunday night at Jacksonville State University. Goguts, who also earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors this season, becomes the 23rd recipient of the prestigious award and just the second player in Huskies history to claim the title, joining 2022 winner Kenleigh Cahalan.

"At any given time, if they throw her a pitch, she’s got every chance in the world to hit it 270 feet," said Hewitt-Trussville coach Taylor Burt. Beyond the immense power, Burt highlighted the humility that defines Goguts. "She’s a great kid. She cares a lot for the people around her, and overall, she’s just a good kid. Very humble."

Goguts put together a dominant 2026 campaign, recording a .618 batting average and a 2.140 OPS. Her offensive explosion included 29 home runs, 14 doubles, 11 triples, and 91 RBIs, while she crossed home plate 109 times.

Her leadership was instrumental in the Huskies' 49-10-1 season, which culminated in the program taking down Thompson for the Class 7A state championship. During the state tournament, Goguts was nearly untouchable, batting 9-for-12 (.750) with five RBIs and key extra-base hits.

Reflecting on her growth since joining the program in 10th grade, Burt noted, "Youth shows its wings in different shapes, forms, and fashions, and she has worked hard to grow in that area and hold herself accountable. She doesn’t mind being coached, she doesn’t mind being held accountable."
