If you got money from Facebook’s massive privacy settlement last year, you’re about to get more cash
The court approved a second distribution of funds to class members who cashed their initial checks. Payments will arrive over the next 10 weeks via your original payment method.
If you were part of the massive $725 million Facebook privacy settlement, keep an eye on your accounts. A second round of payments is officially headed to eligible users, according to 205focus.com reporting.
Why you are getting paid
This ongoing case stems from allegations that Facebook shared user data with third parties—including advertisers, data brokers, and business partners—without obtaining proper permission. While Meta continues to deny any wrongdoing or liability, as noted on the official Facebook User Privacy Settlement website, the court-approved settlement remains in effect for U.S. users who had an account between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022.
What to expect in the coming weeks
The initial wave of payments went out in September 2025 to approximately 250 million people. Because some of those funds went uncashed, the court has authorized a redistribution specifically for those who successfully collected their first payment.
Over the next 10 weeks, the settlement administrator will be sending out these additional funds. You can expect to receive an email notification three to four days prior to your payment arriving. The funds will be delivered via your original selection, whether that was PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, direct deposit, a paper check, or a prepaid debit card.
Payment amounts
While the first round of payouts varied based on how long you used the platform and the number of claims submitted, these second-round payments are expected to be smaller. Officials estimate the payouts will range from a minimum of $4.67 to a maximum of $7.32, falling well below the original median payment of $32.45.
