Isolated severe storms possible Sunday in Alabama; here’s where

If you have outdoor plans this Sunday, you will want to keep a close eye on the sky. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has officially placed parts of Alabama under a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather.

Where to Expect Storms

A Level 1 designation indicates that isolated severe storms are possible across much of north Alabama and the northeastern section of central Alabama. Cities within this risk zone include Birmingham, Huntsville, Florence, Muscle Shoals, Decatur, Cullman, Gadsden, Fort Payne, Anniston, and Talladega.

What to Watch For

While tornadoes are not currently expected, the strongest storms could pack a punch with damaging wind gusts capable of downing tree limbs and power lines. The National Weather Service in Huntsville anticipates that the most intense activity will likely materialize during the afternoon as temperatures reach their daily peak.

Heat and Rainfall Outlook

Expect high temperatures across the state to climb into the low-to-mid 90s on Sunday. Moisture will also play a role, with the eastern half of Alabama facing the highest probability of rain. As reported by 205focus.com, while rain chances may persist into Monday, they are expected to remain low for the majority of the state.

Looking ahead, the forecast remains clear of any organized severe weather threats for Alabama as we move into the coming week.
