Meet Alabama’s top 10 high school softball players from 2026

The 2025 Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) Super All-State team has officially arrived, highlighting the elite talent defining the diamond across the state. This year’s prestigious group is anchored by the ASWA Miss Softball winner Corey Goguts and an impressive contingent of seven standout pitchers.

This select team of 10 athletes was determined by the ASWA’s prep committee, showcasing the very best players in Alabama regardless of their classification, grade, or defensive position. Two stars, Goguts and Saint James pitcher Emily Needham, are repeat selections who also earned Super All-State honors last season.

The 2026 Super All-State Top 10

Here are the 10 players selected for the 2026 Super All-State team, presented in alphabetical order:

Arden Breedlove, IF/DH, Austin, Sr.

The Class 7A Hitter of the Year dominated for the Black Bears, batting .589 with a staggering 2.160 OPS. The Mississippi Christian signee tallied 27 home runs, 14 doubles, seven triples, and 98 RBIs. She also proved perfect on the basepaths, going 32-for-32 in stolen base attempts.

Makayli Davis, P/IF, Colbert County, Sr.

A North Alabama signee and Class 3A Pitcher of the Year, Davis was a force in the circle. She posted a 40-6 record with a microscopic 0.77 ERA, racking up 576 strikeouts in 283 innings. Her season included 21 shutouts and four no-hitters, supplemented by a .382 batting average with nine home runs.

Myleigh Dobbins, P, Saraland, Sr.

Dobbins powered the Spartans to their first state title, finishing with a 24-6 record and a 1.63 ERA. She notched 189 strikeouts and a 0.80 WHIP. Notably, she pitched every inning of Saraland’s championship run, including a clutch shutout performance to secure the final victory.

Kate Flanagan, P/OF, Vestavia Hills, 8th

The Class 7A Pitcher of the Year made an immediate impact for the Rebels, maintaining a 1.04 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. She struck out 174 batters over 141 innings while maintaining a .415 average at the plate with 30 RBIs.

Corey Goguts, OF/IF, Hewitt-Trussville, Sr.

Named Miss Softball, the Ole Miss signee led the Class 7A champion Huskies with a .618 average and a 2.140 OPS. She put up massive numbers, including 29 home runs, 14 doubles, 11 triples, 91 RBIs, and 109 runs scored.

Katie King, IF, Orange Beach, Sr.

The Arkansas signee earned Class 4A Player of the Year honors as she helped guide the Makos to their sixth consecutive championship. King batted .536 with 17 homers and 59 RBIs, adding 24 stolen bases to her resume.

MK McMullan, P, Orange Beach, So.

The Class 4A Pitcher of the Year and state tournament MVP was nearly untouchable, finishing the season with a 32-1 record and a 0.44 ERA. She struck out 212 batters and delivered a shutout in Orange Beach’s championship victory over Plainview, following a no-hitter in the opening round.

McKinley McCaghren, P/IF, Lawrence County, Jr.

The Chattanooga commit and Class 5A Player of the Year led Lawrence County to a state title. She posted a 27-2 record in the circle with a 1.84 ERA and 185 strikeouts, while also contributing at the plate with a .371 average and 23 doubles.

Emily Needham, P, Saint James, Sr.

The Class 3A Player of the Year and South Alabama signee recorded a 30-3 record with a 0.96 ERA for the champion Trojans. Her dominant campaign included 327 strikeouts, 11 shutouts, five no-hitters, two perfect games, and tournament MVP honors.

Braylynn Pope, P/IF, Hackleburg, Jr.

The Class 1A Player of the Year was a dual-threat sensation, batting .612 with 15 home runs and 75 RBIs. She was a perfect 35-for-35 on stolen bases and added a 25-8 record with 216 strikeouts in the circle.
