Morgan Wallen reacts to criticism for canceling show: ‘I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense’
The country music star took to social media to explain.
Country music superstar Morgan Wallen is firing back at critics following a wave of backlash sparked by his decision to pull the plug on his Saturday night performance in Pittsburgh.
Addressing the Backlash
The cancellation came after reports of impending weather concerns. While the storms ultimately missed the concert venue, fans were left frustrated when the event was called off. Wallen turned to his Instagram Stories on Saturday evening to address the situation directly.
Setting the Record Straight
According to Wallen, the decision was made based on guidance from his team after consulting with local officials. "That was the information I had in that moment, and I trusted my team," he explained. While he acknowledged the severe weather had not hit the immediate vicinity of the show at the time, he emphasized the safety risks posed by his stage setup.
"The truth of the matter is, I have a large stage that in those conditions could become fatal to a lot of folks around it. So I did the best I could with the information I had in that moment," Wallen stated. He expressed frustration regarding the rumors circulating online, noting, "I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air. I think my true fans know that that’s not how I operate in general."
Despite the frustration in Pittsburgh, reports from Trib Live indicate that areas south of the city did sustain damage due to high winds and a potential brief tornado.
