Nashville getting Super Bowl after 2029 season
New Nissan Stadium set to open in 2027
The wait is officially over for Music City. The NFL announced on Tuesday that Nashville will host its first-ever Super Bowl in February 2030, marking a major milestone for the city's sports landscape.
A New Home for the Big Game
The centerpiece of this announcement is the city's new $2.1 billion, domed Nissan Stadium, which is currently scheduled to open in 2027. League officials look back on the success of the 2019 NFL Draft held in Nashville as a pivotal trial run that showcased the city's capability to host premier league events.
"The 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville was one of the greatest fan events in our history," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "Super Bowl LXIV at the new stadium is the next step in this remarkable football journey. The vision of Amy Adams Strunk and the Tennessee Titans helped make this moment possible. With great partners at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. and Tennessee Titans, we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable show in 2030."
Building a Sports Legacy
Nashville has served as the home of the Tennessee Titans since 1998, with the team playing at the current Nissan Stadium since 1999—the same year the franchise reached its only Super Bowl to date. Beyond the gridiron, the city has rapidly transformed into a major sports hub, hosting the NHL’s Predators, the annual SEC men’s basketball tournament at Bridgestone Arena, and aggressively bidding for a Major League Baseball expansion franchise.
Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk expressed her excitement regarding the selection: "We are thrilled that the new Nissan Stadium will host Nashville’s first Super Bowl in 2030. This is an exciting moment for our city and our entire state. We cannot wait for our community to experience an event of this magnitude and for the world to see the energy, hospitality, and culture that make our city so special on a global stage."
She added, "Thank you to Commissioner Goodell, my fellow owners, and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. for their partnership throughout this process. We look forward to bringing an unforgettable Super Bowl experience to Nashville together."
The Road to 2030
As reported by 205focus.com, the league has a packed schedule of championship sites leading up to the Nashville game. Before the big game arrives at the new facility in 2030, the Super Bowl will travel through Los Angeles (2027), Atlanta (2028), and Las Vegas (2029). Nashville joins an elite list of Southern cities that have hosted the event, a group that includes New Orleans, Miami, Tampa, Houston, and Atlanta.
