The 2026 Auburn football season is officially just 10 weeks away, and excitement is building as SEC Media Days approach next month. With the Tigers set to face Baylor in the Aflac Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sept. 5, the preseason hype machine is in full swing.

Phil Steele Honors Auburn Talent

As preview magazines hit newsstands, Phil Steele’s preseason magazine has unveiled its latest All-American and All-SEC selections. Several Auburn stars earned high praise ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Elite Recognition

Linebacker Xavier Atkins and defensive back Rayshawn Pleasant are leading the charge, both earning first-team All-SEC honors. Notably, these two standouts are the only Tigers to crack Phil Steele’s All-American rosters.

Atkins earned second-team All-American status following a dominant 2025 season where he racked up 84 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. Pleasant landed on the fourth-team All-American list, recognized for his playmaking ability that resulted in touchdowns on both special teams and defense.

Rounding Out the Selections

The accolades continue for the Auburn roster. Running back Jeremiah Cobb, who nearly broke the 1,000-yard mark last season—finishing just 31 yards short with five 100-yard games—earned a spot on the fourth-team All-SEC. He is joined on the fourth team by veteran offensive lineman Jo Simmons.

Simmons brings significant experience to the Tigers' offensive front after starting every game over the last two seasons at James Madison. During his 2025 campaign at left tackle, he allowed only 15 pressures and four sacks across 408 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Additionally, long snapper Hudson Powell received first-team All-SEC recognition. Powell joins Auburn with 27 games of college experience after transferring from Miami (Ohio).
