‘Shut up you ugly f---’: Democrats blast Trump adviser over James Talarico transgender joke
The party's social media account's response raised eyebrows.
The Democratic Party’s social media presence sparked a firestorm on Wednesday following a heated digital confrontation with a top adviser to President Donald Trump. The exchange occurred after the adviser made a satirical remark regarding Texas Senate candidate James Talarico.
A Digital War of Words
The controversy began when Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff for policy, responded to a post from the Democratic Party that featured an image of Talarico standing before the Texas state flag. Miller wrote, “The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate.”
In reality, Talarico is a cisgender male. Donald Trump has previously attacked the candidate, characterizing him as “whacked out, with his six different forms of gender,” an apparent critique of Talarico’s support for the transgender community and his previous remark that “God is nonbinary.”
The official Democratic Party account on X did not mince words in its rebuttal, firing back at Miller with an explicit retort: “shut up you ugly f---.”
The Path to November
Talarico is set to face Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the upcoming November election. Paxton secured his spot on the ballot after defeating incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff. The matchup is expected to be one of the most closely watched contests of the cycle, as Republicans look to defend a thin majority in the Senate.
Following his primary victory, Paxton wasted no time attacking Talarico’s platform. During his victory speech, Paxton labeled his opponent the “most extreme radical the Democrats have ever nominated,” even making light of what he dubbed a “vegan campaign.”
Paxton continued his assault with a series of nicknames for his opponent, including “Tofu Talarico,” “Six Gender Jimmy,” “James Talafreako,” and “Low T Talarico.” He concluded his remarks by telling supporters, “James Talarico was a threat to everything we hold dear in this state and in this country.”
