Trump slams performers dropping out of Freedom 250, teases ‘No. 1 attraction’ in world
The president took to social media Saturday.
President Donald Trump took to social media on Saturday to address a series of musical acts withdrawing from the Freedom 250’s Great American State Fair. Trump dismissed the performers as “third rate artists” and hinted at a potentially massive replacement for the event.
A New 'Attraction' Teased
Addressing the vacancies in the lineup, the former president suggested that he might take the stage himself. In his social media statement, Trump claimed he is considering replacing the departed talent with what he dubbed the “Number One Attraction anywhere in the World.” He noted that he draws larger crowds than Elvis in his prime without even needing a guitar, positioning himself to deliver a major speech to rally the country.
The Wave of Cancellations
The turbulence surrounding the 16-day celebration, which aims to honor America’s 250th birthday through exhibits, cultural programming, and patriotic tributes across the capital, continues to mount. On Friday, Bret Michaels of Poison fame became the fifth act to pull out, describing the event as “divisive.”
Michaels is just one of several artists to withdraw from the originally announced roster. On Thursday, country music star Martina McBride announced she would not participate, challenging the event's claim of being nonpartisan.
Prior to those departures, rapper Young MC and funk icons Morris Day also confirmed they would not perform. Additionally, Milli Vanilli singer Jodie Rocco informed The Associated Press that she and her fellow group members had never been approached for the event and would not be in attendance. With five of the nine scheduled acts having exited, the Freedom 250 organizers face significant challenges as they approach the event.
