U.S. Space & Rocket Center has a new CEO
New CEO has deep roots in Huntsville community.
Huntsville has a new leader for one of its most iconic institutions. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center officially announced Thursday that Tina Tucker has been named its new chief executive officer.
A Local Leader for a Global Landmark
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center Commission, which oversees the facility and the world-renowned Space Camp®, selected Tucker after a rigorous, months-long national search. The process evaluated hundreds of candidates, but Tucker’s blend of aerospace expertise and deep local roots ultimately set her apart.
Tucker currently serves as the president of Pinnacle Solutions, an Akima company. She brings over two decades of leadership experience in defense, aerospace, and training systems development to her new role. Her technical background began in software engineering, supported by a bachelor's degree in computer science from Austin Peay State University and a master’s in project management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
New Leadership at a Pivotal Time
Rey Almodóvar, chair of the center's board, praised the appointment, stating, "The U.S. Space & Rocket Center deserves visionary, energetic, and effective leadership, and that is exactly what Tina Tucker brings. She has the talent, the drive, and the creativity to lead this institution into its next great chapter."
Tucker takes the helm as the center stands at the intersection of history and the future. With the nation's renewed focus on space exploration through NASA’s Artemis program, the center remains a critical hub for inspiration. This momentum follows the recent opening of the Inspiration4 Skills Training Complex, a facility designed to foster the next generation of explorers.
Reflecting on the appointment, Tucker noted, "Space Camp and the Rocket Center embody the excitement of exploration past, present and future. I’m excited to carry that level of commitment, innovation and delivery forward as I join the amazing Rocket Center crew to advance our important mission."
Tucker is set to officially join the organization on July 6. She will oversee an institution that continues to serve as a premier global destination, drawing visitors from all 50 states and numerous countries to its museum and educational programs annually.
