3 indicted on capital murder in double killing at Birmingham home

A Jefferson County grand jury has formally indicted three suspects in connection with the 2024 double homicide that occurred at a residence in Inglenook.

The Indictments

According to recently released court documents, the grand jury issued indictments on May 14 for 19-year-old Jaylen Frost of Tarrant, 20-year-old Cam’Ron Frost of Birmingham, and 24-year-old Taquan Patterson, also of Birmingham. The trio faces capital murder charges in the killings of 19-year-old Camry Enrieque Lee and 20-year-old Michael Allen Carroll. Because the act involved the death of two or more individuals, it is classified as a capital crime. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting.

Case Background

East Precinct officers were originally dispatched to the 4400 block of 41st Place North following reports of gunfire on the evening of Nov. 21, 2024. Upon arrival, officers discovered Lee unresponsive in the driveway of an abandoned house, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. A subsequent search of the premises led investigators to discover the body of Carroll inside the home.

In addition to the recovery of a stolen vehicle at the scene, investigators linked the suspects to the crime, leading to their arrest at a Titusville home one year ago. The defendants have been held without bond since their initial apprehension, and a trial date has yet to be scheduled.
