A Hayden woman is facing serious charges following an investigation by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. Chelsey Herndon, 33, was taken into custody Wednesday on allegations involving the abuse and surveillance of her own children.

The Charges

According to reports from 205focus.com, Herndon has been charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of aggravated criminal surveillance. She was booked into the Blount County Jail and released on a $105,000 bond just over four hours later.

Details of the Investigation

Charging documents allege that Herndon repeatedly assaulted her sons, ages 14, 12, and 10. The complaint states that the abuse occurred on numerous occasions, with Herndon allegedly slapping the children and utilizing both wooden and metal spatulas to strike them.

Beyond the physical abuse, investigators discovered that a Ring doorbell camera had been placed inside the bedroom of her 14-year-old son. The suspect allegedly forced the teenager to keep the device unobstructed, threatening punishment if he attempted to cover the camera while changing or if he retreated to the closet to dress.

The investigation remains active, and court records currently show no attorney of record for Herndon. No further information has been released at this time.
