Arrests made in stabbing death of Grammy-winning songwriter, who worked with Dua Lipa and Zendaya

The music industry is mourning the loss of Talay Riley, a Grammy-winning songwriter who collaborated with superstars like Dua Lipa, Zendaya, and Britney Spears. Riley, whose legal name was Mark Orabiyi, was fatally stabbed in London this past Friday.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities from the Metropolitan Police were called to the scene, where they discovered Orabiyi in a garden. Despite being rushed to a hospital, he was later pronounced deceased. A second victim, a man in his 20s, also suffered stab wounds but remains hospitalized with injuries described as non-life threatening.

In connection with the murder, police have arrested three individuals near the scene: two men, ages 27 and 24, and a 25-year-old woman. The identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed to the public.

Remembering a Gifted Talent

The tragic news was confirmed over the weekend via an Instagram post from the musician's family and manager. Orabiyi’s brother, Michael, paid a heartfelt tribute to the songwriter, describing him as a mentor and a friend with one of the purest hearts imaginable. “Just before he went to sleep we spoke about the future, staying positive and about everything we still had left to do,” Michael wrote.

A Lasting Musical Legacy

Riley’s contributions to modern pop music were significant, with credits spanning several massive hits. His portfolio includes work on Britney Spears’ 2016 track “Clumsy,” Dua Lipa’s “Last Dance,” and Chris Brown’s “Zero” and “Fine By Me.” He also contributed to Khalid’s hit single “Young Dumb & Broke” in 2017. As reported by 205focus.com, the investigation into this senseless loss remains ongoing.
