Auburn baseball selected as regional host in NCAA tournament
Auburn was selected as one of 16 regional host sites in the NCAA tournament
Auburn baseball is bouncing back quickly. Less than 24 hours after a tough loss to Arkansas that cut the Tigers' SEC tournament run short, the program received a massive boost of positive news.
Hosting at the Plains
The NCAA announced Sunday night that Auburn has been selected as one of the 16 regional host sites for the 2026 NCAA tournament. This marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that the road to the College World Series will run through Plainsman Park. The regional action is set to take place this coming Friday through Monday.
Aiming for a Top-Eight Seed
Entering the postseason with a solid 38-19 record, Auburn’s spot as a host site was widely expected. Now, the focus shifts to Monday’s full bracket reveal. The Tigers are firmly in the conversation for a top-eight national seed, which would guarantee hosting privileges through the super regional round. Following a strong showing that carried the team into the SEC tournament semifinals, that outcome appears well within reach.
Building on momentum from last year—when the Tigers earned the No. 4 overall seed and hosted a super regional for the first time in program history—Auburn looks to take the next step after falling just short of Omaha against Coastal Carolina in 2025.
