Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reworks deal for a half-billion dollars, reports say

Despite facing recent injury setbacks and missing the postseason, the Kansas City Chiefs are doubling down on their commitment to superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Reporting from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport confirms that the Chiefs have officially restructured their agreement with Mahomes, extending the franchise signal-caller’s tenure in Kansas City through the 2033 season.

A Historic Financial Commitment

This massive extension brings serious value to the table. The reworked deal injects $239.05 million in new money, pushing the total guaranteed value of the contract to an eye-popping $504.75 million. With potential incentives and escalators, the multi-time Super Bowl champion could see his earnings climb as high as $522.25 million.

Leadership Praise

Chiefs CEO and Chair Clark Hunt lauded the move, emphasizing Mahomes' rare status in professional sports. "Over the last decade Patrick has become one of the most iconic, beloved sports figures of all time," Hunt said. "He has helped lead our franchise to five Super Bowl appearances and three championships; he has been instrumental in shaping the Chiefs brand and putting Kansas City on the world stage; and on top of it all he has been an outstanding role model in the community. Patrick is a generational talent and an elite human being, and I’m so excited he will continue to lead our team into the future."

Looking Ahead

All eyes now turn to the gridiron, where the Chiefs are set to open their campaign on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos. Fans are eagerly awaiting the contest, which could mark the return of Mahomes following the season-ending knee injury he sustained last December.
