Auto supplier announces $9.2 million factory in Auburn, to hire 50
The factory will provide advanced technical components for engine control and electric management in hybrid vehicles.
Automotive supplier Kamtec Auto USA is officially planting its roots in Auburn, announcing plans to open its first U.S. manufacturing facility. The company is set to invest $9.2 million into the project, a move that is expected to generate approximately 50 new jobs over the next three years.
Driving Innovation in Hybrid Technology
The new Auburn facility will focus on manufacturing advanced technical components essential for engine control and electric management systems in hybrid vehicles. Kamtec, which was established in 2001, is an affiliate of the Seohan Group—a firm that has already maintained a presence in Auburn since 2007.
Kamtec will kick off operations in a leased facility before eventually transitioning to a newly constructed plant to be built by Seohan Auto USA.
Strategic Growth and Local Talent
Kamtec Auto USA President Chang-Yeong Seo highlighted the strategic importance of the Auburn location. By situating themselves near Hyundai’s Montgomery plant and Kia’s factory in West Point, Georgia, the company is positioned to efficiently manufacture and supply its components to the U.S. market. Seo also noted that the company intends to work closely with Auburn University to tap into local talent for its specialized technical roles.
Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair praised the development, stating that the project is a significant win for the state and serves as a prime example of how major automotive manufacturers attract follow-up investment from their suppliers.

A Growing Hub for Automotive Manufacturing
This announcement adds to a bustling year for industrial development in Auburn. Last month, DUCK IL USA revealed a $21 million investment to expand its operations in Auburn’s Technology Park West. Additionally, Vertex Innovations recently committed $13.5 million to an advanced manufacturing facility in the same park, which is slated to bring 45 jobs to the area.
