Bibb County mother pleads guilty in horrific bunker sex abuse case, fears inmate attacks
Rebecca Brewer, 30, is the mother of some of the victims.
Rebecca Brewer, a 30-year-old mother of some of the victims, has entered a guilty plea in connection with a horrific child sex trafficking ring in Alabama. As part of her agreement, Brewer is expected to provide testimony against seven other co-defendants involved in the case.
Following her plea, prosecutors worked to seal specific records for Brewer due to mounting concerns for her safety. Officials noted that she has already faced threats from co-defendants and physical assaults from other inmates while in custody without bond. The state emphasized that publicizing the details of her cooperation could expose her to further intimidation, harassment, and physical harm while the cases against the other suspects remain open.
Plea Details and Charges
On Thursday, District Attorney Robert Turner confirmed that Brewer pleaded guilty to one count of sexual torture and nine counts of first-degree kidnapping. While she was originally charged with dozens of felony offenses, a sentencing date for her current convictions has not yet been set. She has since been relocated to an undisclosed jail facility.
The Scope of the Investigation
In addition to Brewer, the case involves co-defendants Olivia Shailee Elam, Andres Velazquez-Trejo, William Chase McElroy, Dalton Terrell, Timothy St. John, Sara Louise Terrell, and Ricky Terrell. Authorities allege the abuse of 10 children, aged 3 to 15, began as far back as 2022.
Investigators discovered that the abuse occurred within an underground storm shelter situated on the property of McElroy’s grandmother. The bunker was sparsely furnished, containing only a bed, a few chairs, and minor items. According to court documents, children were drugged and restrained with ties to the bed or concrete support poles. Disturbingly, court filings suggest some suspects utilized animal shock collars on the children's genitals for both punishment and sexual gratification.
A Systematic Operation
Authorities described the operation as a sophisticated trafficking ring where individuals paid roughly $200 for appointments to abuse the children. Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade stated the enterprise generated upwards of $1,000 per night. Sheriff Wade previously remarked on the gravity of the case, noting that in his 33-year career, this represents the most extreme form of child victimization he has encountered.
The probe into the Brent-based bunker began on February 4, 2025, following a report from the Department of Human Resources. The investigation has since expanded to include the Department of Homeland Security, as officials explore potential links between the suspects and the Seranos, a Mexican gang known for utilizing sex trafficking as a primary revenue stream.
