Clay Travis leaving sports, culture site he founded, but will still appear on TV
OutKick being integrated into Fox News digital umbrella
Clay Travis is moving on. According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter, the 47-year-old commentator is departing OutKick, the media outlet he launched back in 2011.
A New Chapter for OutKick
The Nashville native and former attorney, who sold his platform to Fox Corporation five years ago, leaves behind a brand that is set to evolve. Moving forward, OutKick will be integrated into the Fox News Digital umbrella, a transition similar to how The Athletic operates under the New York Times.
In a statement regarding his departure, Travis reflected on the site's growth: “When I created OutKick in 2011, the goal was not only for the site to be smart, original, funny, and authentic, but also to become an influential digital platform in the industry. Over the past 15 years, with the help of an incredible team and the support from Fox, that goal has been accomplished.”
Staying in the Fox Family
While his daily role at OutKick ends, Travis isn't disappearing from the airwaves. He will maintain his position as a Fox News contributor and continue his work alongside Buck Sexton. The duo remains the voice of a syndicated talk radio show that took over the slots formerly held by Rush Limbaugh.
Fox News Media president and executive editor Jay Wallace praised Travis's tenure, noting, “Clay Travis has been an integral voice and leader for OutKick and is leaving the platform well positioned for the future. We thank him for his invaluable contributions to OutKick as we continue to grow it under the Fox News Digital domain.”
A Lasting Impact
Travis has long been a fixture in the sports media landscape. Known for his candid and often controversial takes on sports and politics, he cultivated a massive audience. His roots in the industry run deep, particularly in Alabama; an avid Tennessee supporter who covered the SEC extensively during his career, Travis was once a staple of Birmingham sports talk radio and still makes guest appearances on the local internet show Next Round Live.
