Country music legends to headline new festival in Alabama: ‘We uplift people’

Birmingham is preparing to host a major new musical event this summer as the Field & Stage Music Fest brings a powerhouse lineup to the Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The inaugural festival, scheduled for July 17-19, promises to turn the city into a destination for country music fans.

A Triple-Threat Lineup

The festival will feature high-profile headliners across its three-day run at the 17,000-capacity arena. The Oak Ridge Boys, legends of country and gospel music, are set to kick off the festivities on Friday, July 17. They will be followed by ACM winner Jake Owen on Saturday, July 18, and the Eli Young Band on Sunday, July 19.

Outdoor Excitement Meets Live Music

Field & Stage Music Fest is intentionally running in tandem with this year’s World Deer Expo. As the expo brings outdoor enthusiasts to the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex for hunting and fishing exhibits, the music festival provides the perfect evening soundtrack. Doors for the concerts open at 6:30 p.m. daily, with music starting at 7:30 p.m. Organizers note that every concert ticket purchased includes two free entries to the World Deer Expo.

Enduring Legends

For many, the return of the Oak Ridge Boys is the highlight of the weekend. With a career spanning back to the 1940s, the group boasts more than 60 studio albums, 17 No. 1 singles, and inductions into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. The group has also earned five Grammy Awards.

The group’s current lineup includes Alabama native William Lee Golden, longtime lead singer Duane Allen, and bass vocalist Richard Sterban, joined by Ben James. The group continues to carry on the legacy established by longtime member Joe Bonsall, who passed away in July 2024.

Tickets are currently available via Ticketmaster, with daily prices ranging from $97.65 to $121.35. According to the official festival website, the event was established to meet the public demand for a premier annual country music festival in Birmingham while complementing the World Deer Expo.
