Despite warnings, band’s fans throw trash at stage

Despite clear instructions and explicit warnings, concertgoers at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium continued a disruptive trend during a recent Treaty Oak Revival performance. Fans ignored signs posted behind the stage that read, "Let’s show some respect for The Ryman," and, "Please do not throw things. We love you," as reported by Saving Country Music.

A Pattern of Disrespect

The incident is the latest in a series of events involving the band where debris has been hurled at the stage. Saving Country Music characterized the behavior as a blatant disregard for both the venue and the band’s direct requests.

The "Beer Shower" Dilemma

Tensions surrounding the band's live shows often revolve around a fan tradition known as the "beer shower." While the act was meant to be a high-energy interaction between the crowd and performers, it has devolved into projectiles being tossed directly at the band members. In March, this behavior forced country star Sam Canty to exit the stage mid-performance after being targeted with thrown beverages.

Following that incident, Kelsi Canty took to social media to address the behavior. In a video posted to TikTok, she demonstrated the proper way to execute a "beer shower"—throwing liquid over one's own head rather than at the stage—while criticizing fans for ruining the experience.

"They’re literally giving it their all, performing for you guys, giving you the best concert that they can. And y’all are ruining it for them by throwing stuff at them," Kelsi Canty said. "It’s just not cool. It’s just not nice."
