Dr. Oz roasted over ‘ludicrous’ explanation for Trump’s frequent medical checkups
"He aces the test every single day."
Dr. Mehmet Oz is finding himself at the center of a social media firestorm after offering what critics are calling a "ludicrous" justification for President Donald Trump’s frequent medical exams.
Acing the Test?
As the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Oz fielded questions during Tuesday’s White House press briefing regarding why the president continues to undergo medical evaluations despite being in excellent health. Oz’s response? He claimed Trump simply enjoys the feedback. "I think he likes the results. He does really well. He aces the test every single day," Oz stated.
Oz further described the president as a "meticulous person" who is naturally curious about his health markers. "For him to want to know all the numbers and keep on top of them is the same reason he calls people at odd hours. If something’s on his mind, he wants to deal with it," he added.
Inside the Medical Report
The comments arrive following a report released late Friday by Dr. Sean Barbabella. That assessment detailed a three-hour visit on May 26 where the 79-year-old president underwent CT scans, heart imaging, cancer screenings, and various other assessments performed by 22 specialists. Trump later claimed the results were "PERFECTLY" clear.
The report also addressed bruising on the president’s hands, attributing it to "minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking" and a common byproduct of aspirin therapy. Regarding his previously documented chronic venous insufficiency, doctors noted slight lower leg swelling but emphasized an improvement over last year’s findings. Overall, the medical team reported no abnormalities, confirming strong pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological health.
Backlash and Mockery
Despite the clean bill of health, Oz’s defense of the president’s fourth visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center of his second term was met with intense skepticism online. Critics were quick to lampoon the notion that presidential checkups are a recreational activity.
The Wu Tang is for the Children account on X expressed disbelief at the framing, while California Gov. Gavin Newsom took to social media to ask if the president receives a "lollipop and a sticker" for his efforts. The anti-Trump Lincoln Project also mocked the administration, suggesting the narrative was part of a larger pattern of dishonesty, while user @narceducator condemned the remarks as a "ludicrous" attempt to bolster the president’s ego.
