Frozen food recall hits Costco, Walmart and 20 other retailers over salmonella contamination fears
Champion Foods is recalling Motor City Pizza cheese bread products with sell-by dates through March 2027 after discovering a third-party seasoning manufacturer may have been contaminated.
If you have frozen cheese bread in your freezer, you might want to double-check the brand. A major nationwide recall is currently underway, impacting products sold at Costco, Walmart, and over 20 other retailers due to potential Salmonella contamination.
Details of the Recall
Champion Foods issued a voluntary recall on May 29 for its Motor City Pizza Co. Five Cheese Bread products. The move follows a separate recall involving milk powder from California Dairies, Inc. Champion Foods identified that a seasoning used in their five-cheese sauce blend, supplied by a third party, could be contaminated with the bacteria.
While Champion Foods stated that their own testing of the seasoning batches came back negative for Salmonella, they are moving forward with the recall as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety.
