Lockheed Martin tapped for Air Force surveillance maintenance through 2035

The U.S. Air Force solidified its maintenance capabilities with two major contract awards announced on June 2, 2026.

Lockheed Martin Surveillance Contract

Lockheed Martin has secured a $17.5 million contract to provide critical maintenance for an air surveillance system. The scope of the project is extensive, covering program management, engineering services, and emergency repairs. Additionally, the agreement encompasses hardware and software procurement, manufacturing, materials, shipping, and travel requirements.

The work is slated to take place in Liverpool, New York. The Pentagon opted for a direct award, bypassing competitive bidding to bring Lockheed Martin on board. The contract is scheduled for completion by June 10, 2035.

Expansion at Edwards Air Force Base

A separate agreement was finalized for maintenance work at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Defender Contracting & Construction 2, LLC, based out of Kansas City, Missouri, has been tapped for this project, which carries a valuation of up to $100 million.

This contract, which runs through May 28, 2031, focuses on a wide array of operational needs. According to the Pentagon, the work will include management, labor, equipment, transportation, and materials. The company will also handle supervision and minimal design tasks to support a variety of concurrent projects, ranging from general repairs to minor construction on real property.
