Phil Mickelson banned from golf club after accusation of ‘inappropriate’ conduct, report says

Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson has been banned from The Farms Golf Club in San Diego following allegations of inappropriate behavior. According to a report by Golf Digest, a female employee at the club accused the 55-year-old golfer of nonconsensual, inappropriate physical contact during an incident that reportedly occurred this spring.

Club Investigation and Removal

Following the report of the incident, which allegedly took place before a round of golf, the employee notified her supervisor. The club initiated a thorough, independent investigation into the matter, ultimately instructing Mickelson to vacate the premises. The Farms Golf Club confirmed that the former PGA Tour star is no longer a member of the club.

In a statement regarding the situation, the club emphasized its commitment to a safe and respectful environment. "Following a staff member report of member misconduct, the Club provided immediate and ongoing support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation of the incident and took decisive action. This individual is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club," the statement read.

Mickelson's Status

Mickelson, who famously departed the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf in 2022, is currently away from professional competition. He announced in February that he would be stepping back from the sport due to a family health matter. Regarding the recent allegations, a spokesperson for the golfer stated: “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up. Phil continues to attend to a family health matter and is uncertain when he will be able to return to professional golf.”

Once a cornerstone of the PGA Tour, Mickelson's career has seen significant shifts since his move to LIV four years ago. While he has participated in major championships during his tenure with the rival league, he recently withdrew from the Masters—marking only the second time he has missed the tournament since turning pro—and the upcoming U.S. Open as he remains sidelined from the sport.
