A routine traffic stop in Tallapoosa County spiraled into a major drug bust this week, leading to the seizure of 11 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of two individuals, according to 205focus.com reporting.
From a Traffic Stop to a Search Warrant
The chain of events began on Friday when a deputy pulled over a Honda Accord traveling on Jefferson Street in Alexander City. Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force Sgt. Chance Hunt confirmed that during the stop, the deputy established probable cause to search the vehicle, where they uncovered two and a half ounces of marijuana.
Following the discovery, the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force stepped in to launch an investigation. This effort quickly led authorities to secure a search warrant for a residence on Summer Street in Alexander City.
Evidence Recovered and Charges Filed
Upon executing the warrant at the Summer Street apartment, agents recovered a haul that included approximately 11 pounds of marijuana, a Glock pistol, and $670 in cash.
Two suspects were taken into custody following the raid:
- Ke Aldric Buckner, 23, faces charges of trafficking marijuana, being a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Taniya Davis, 22, is charged with trafficking marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
