TV star shortened Broadway performance to get to NBA Finals to support Knicks

When it comes to the NBA Finals, some fans will go to extreme lengths to support their squad. For Mariska Hargitay, that meant trimming her Broadway performance to ensure she made it to Madison Square Garden for a historic night in New York Knicks history.

A Sprint to the Garden

The Law & Order star didn't let a two-show day at the Hudson Theater stop her from witnessing the Knicks' comeback against the San Antonio Spurs. Hargitay shaved four minutes off the running time of her one-person show, Every Brilliant Thing, before sprinting from 44th and 6th to reach MSG.

"I knew the traffic would be crazy, so I sprinted from the Hudson Theater on 44th and 6th to MSG," Hargitay told The Hollywood Reporter. She noted that her footwear choices—a pair of Jalen Brunson Kobe 5 Protos—helped keep her spirit high during the 10-block trek.

An Epic Comeback

The effort was well worth it. After falling behind by 29 points at halftime, the Knicks clawed their way back to defeat the Spurs 107-106 in Game 4, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead. The comeback was capped when OG Anunoby tipped in a missed 3-point attempt by Jalen Brunson with just 1.2 seconds remaining.

"I love my husband, and our wedding night was great and all, but I think it might have been the greatest night of my life," Hargitay wrote of the experience. "The game was so brutal, down 29 at the half, but I’m telling you, to watch this team fight and claw their way back — to see that look in Jalen’s eyes — there are just endless life lessons in there."

Closing In on a Title

Brunson paced the Knicks with 36 points, while Anunoby added 33 to propel the team to the brink of their first championship since 1973. The Knicks now hold three chances to secure the title, with Game 5 scheduled for Saturday night in San Antonio.
