Two suspects in Huntsville arson found dead on same Cullman County property in 24 hours
Both had been arrested earlier this year on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
A grim search in Cullman County concluded this week as authorities recovered the bodies of two suspects wanted in connection with a Huntsville arson case. Within a span of just 24 hours, both individuals were found deceased on the same property.
The Investigation
Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry confirmed the recovery of 41-year-old Christopher Robertson on Thursday. His discovery came only one day after authorities found the body of 42-year-old Kristin Slayton. According to reports, Robertson was located in a river approximately 100 yards from where Slayton was discovered.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office initially contacted Cullman County authorities on Tuesday, seeking assistance in locating the pair, who were wanted on charges of arson and drug offenses. The search intensified following a report of a structure fire at a barn near County Road 765, an area where Robertson reportedly owned land.
A Violent History
Both Slayton and Robertson were out on bond at the time of the alleged Tuesday arson at Robertson’s residence on Hemlock Drive in Huntsville. Earlier this year, the two had been arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, a case which led a judge to subsequently revoke their bonds.
While investigations into the deaths continue, officials have not yet released information regarding the causes of death. Sheriff Gentry praised the efforts of his team, noting that deputies and investigators worked through 48 hours of grueling conditions, including extreme heat and challenging terrain, to bring the search to a conclusion.
