Vigor star Jabarrius Garror commits to the University of Texas

Vigor High School standout Jabarrius "Chicken" Garror has officially pledged his future to the University of Texas. The two-time Class 5A Lineman of the Year announced his commitment Friday morning in front of peers and faculty, opting for the Longhorns over a final list of suitors that included Florida State, Georgia, and Auburn.

A High-Level Addition for Texas

Garror, a 6-foot-2.5, 215-pound EDGE rusher, is currently ranked as the No. 4 senior prospect in Alabama, according to the 247 composite rankings. The former Alabama commit noted that he settled on his decision roughly two weeks ago.

"It feels good," Garror said following his announcement. "I’ve been waiting on it for a minute, and the day came, so it feels great. I feel like it was the right place for me to grow as a player and a person. I think they got all the tools over there that I need to grow in the right way."

Dominance on the Field

Garror has been a force for Vigor, leading the Wolves to the Class 5A state title game in 2025. His production has been prolific; during the 2025 campaign, he recorded 106 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, and 18 quarterback hurries. Those numbers built upon a stellar sophomore season where he tallied 104 tackles, 56 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, and 37 quarterback hurries.

"Relentless effort is definitely the first thing that’s going to stand out when he walks on the Texas campus," Vigor head coach Renardo Jackson said.

Recruiting Landscape

With his commitment, Garror becomes the 14th pledge for Steve Sarkisian’s Class of 2027. He also marks the third senior SEC commit from Vigor, joining teammate Isaac McNeil, who is headed to Auburn, and defensive back Miguel Wilson, who chose Kentucky.

Garror’s announcement brings the total number of committed players among the state's top five senior prospects to four, with the 2026 season just two months away. The group includes Dothan's Ai’King Hall (Miami), Vigor’s Isaac McNeil (Auburn), and Central-Phenix City’s Jatori Williams (Miami). Only Ramsay defensive lineman Karlos May remains uncommitted among that elite tier.
