Walmart makes change to delivery in 33 U.S. markets that customers will love
More than 100,000 items, including fresh groceries, pantry staples, baby essentials, cold and flu medications, household supplies, pet food, electronics and prescriptions are eligible for delivery.
Walmart is turning up the heat on its delivery capabilities, announcing a significant expansion of its rapid service. The retail giant officially confirmed that 30-minute or less delivery is now live across 33 U.S. markets, extending the service to over 19,000 ZIP codes across the country.
Where is it available?
While the company has not published a complete list of all 33 markets, they noted that the expansion includes major hubs such as Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, St. Louis, Tampa, and Austin, Texas. Customers can confirm if they are within one of these rapid delivery zones during the online checkout process, where a specific prompt for “delivery in 30 minutes or less” will appear.
What can you get in 30 minutes?
The service isn't limited to a few niche items. Customers can choose from more than 100,000 products, ranging from fresh groceries and pantry staples to electronics, baby essentials, prescriptions, and pet food.
According to Tracy Poulliot, Chief eCommerce Officer for Walmart U.S., the move is a direct response to consumer demand. "Customers are looking for faster, easier ways to get what they need in the moments that matter," Poulliot said. "As customers continue to look for more immediate shopping options, we’re making this service more prominent where it’s available — helping them get the items they need, right when they need them."
Building on a proven track record
This initiative isn't brand new for the retailer; Walmart has been testing 30-minute delivery options for over a year. The company reports that 26% of Express Deliveries are already arriving within that window.
For Walmart+ members, this ultra-fast delivery option is available for a $10 fee. As reported by 205focus.com, this marks another step in Walmart's strategy to stay ahead in the competitive convenience market.
