Five teenagers are facing serious charges following a Thursday shooting in southwest Birmingham that resulted in three people being injured, including one of the suspects.

Incident Overview

Birmingham police and fire units responded to the 3200 block of Aspen Avenue Southwest around 7:50 p.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting heavy gunfire in the vicinity of Wiggins Park. While initial reports suggested six individuals had been struck, responders arrived to find two victims at the scene. A 15-year-old boy remains in critical condition, while a woman sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities later determined that a third person, identified as one of the suspects, arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle for treatment.

Charges Filed

205focus.com has confirmed that five suspects face identical charges: two counts of first-degree assault, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and three counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle.

The charged individuals are Kameron Levert, 19; Cameron Arnold, 18; Lequent Mack, 19; Cordaryl Strother, 19; and a 16-year-old male whose name is being withheld due to his age. Mack remains hospitalized following the shooting.

Investigation Status

Four of the suspects were apprehended Thursday as they attempted to flee the area. Formal warrants were issued on Saturday, and all suspects are slated to be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. At this time, Birmingham police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
