An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) employee is recovering after a scary collision while performing routine roadwork in Hale County this Wednesday. The incident occurred on State Road 69, located just north of Greensboro, when a tractor-trailer struck the tractor mower the employee was operating.

Safety Concerns on Alabama Roadways

Emergency responders transported the worker to a hospital for treatment. Fortunately, officials report that the employee is expected to make a full recovery following the accident.

This incident comes just six days after the tragic loss of Amad Jackson, a dedicated ALDOT crew leader who was fatally struck by a vehicle while working in an active maintenance zone in Bullock County.

A Call for Caution

The proximity of road crews to active traffic remains a significant challenge for the department. Wallace McAdory III, ALDOT West Central Region Engineer, addressed the incident by emphasizing the dangers workers face daily.

"Our employees work hard every day to maintain our roadways, often in close proximity to traffic," McAdory said. "We’re thankful our employee is expected to recover, and we encourage all motorists to use extra caution when approaching maintenance crews."
