Bruce Springsteen calls out Trump in Stephen Colbert appearance
"I’m here in support tonight for Stephen."
Bruce Springsteen did not hold back during his recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, using the platform to fire sharp criticism at Donald Trump.
A Hostile Climate
Upon taking the stage, The Boss addressed the host directly. "I’m here in support tonight for Stephen, because you’re the first guy in America who’s lost his show because we’ve got a president who can’t take a joke," Springsteen remarked. He further targeted leadership at Paramount, stating, "And uh, because Larry and David Ellison feel they need to kiss his ass to get what they want."
Music and Protest
The performance took a somber turn as Springsteen played "Streets of Minneapolis." The track serves as a tribute to anti-ICE protesters Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were killed. The lyrics pulled no punches, referencing "Trump’s federal thugs" and calling out "Miller and Noem’s dirty lies" while detailing the violence Pretti faced before his death.
Ongoing Tensions
This televised jab follows a heated exchange on social media last month. Trump, who has been a frequent target for Trump critic Bruce Springsteen, took to Truth Social to label the rock legend a "dried up prune." At the time, the president claimed Springsteen suffered from an "incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."
