Here’s your chance to hear Alabama’s Republican runoff candidates before you vote

Voters looking to gain a deeper understanding of the candidates on their ballot have a prime opportunity this week. The Shelby County Republican Party is hosting an official runoff candidate forum, inviting the public to hear directly from those seeking office.
Event Details
The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, beginning at 6 p.m. It will take place at the Pelham Civic Center, located at 500 Amphitheater Road in Pelham. The event is open to all members of the public.
What to Expect
The evening will feature candidates currently in the running for both statewide offices and the Shelby County district judge position. The discussion will be moderated by JT from Alabama’s Morning News on NewsRadio 105.5 WERC, ensuring a structured conversation regarding the most pressing issues impacting our state and nation.
The Shelby County Republican Party emphasized the importance of the event, stating they “welcome all supporters and believe informed voters are essential to the strength of our party, our communities and our nation.”
The Road to the Runoff
Under Alabama law, candidates must secure more than 50% of the vote in the initial primary to avoid a runoff. With those thresholds not met in certain races, voters will head back to the polls for the Alabama primary runoff election, which is set for June 16.
