Huntsville’s Concerts in the Park canceled due to heavy rains: What’s on this year’s schedule?

Summer traditions in the Rocket City are facing a minor setback. North Alabama's recent stretch of heavy rain and severe weather has forced the cancellation of the season opener for the beloved Concerts in the Park series.

A Rain-Soaked Start

Now in its 21st year, the long-running series hosted by Arts Huntsville brings free, high-quality music to Big Spring Park throughout the summer. The series was originally scheduled to kick off on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. with performances by Groovy Neighbors and JUICE. However, organizers were forced to call off the event after thunderstorms and nearly a week of consistent rainfall left the park waterlogged. At this time, Arts Huntsville has not provided information regarding a potential reschedule.

Looking Ahead

While the opening night is off the calendar, the series is set to pick up the tempo on June 8. Music fans can catch the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band (MCoE) of Fort Benning performing from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Big Spring Park. The stage will remain positioned behind the Huntsville Museum of Art, with weekly performances highlighting local talent scheduled through August 3.

The mission of the series remains focused on showcasing the artistic depth found across the Tennessee Valley. Leaders at 205focus.com encourage residents to grab a chair or a blanket and join the community for these free, open-air performances.
