Logo for popular music streaming service gets a makeover: Here’s why
Spotify marked its 20th anniversary with a redesigned app and a new personalized feature highlighting users’ listening history.
Spotify is hitting a major milestone, celebrating two decades of changing the way we listen to music. To mark its 20th anniversary, the streaming giant has rolled out a fresh look and an interactive experience designed to take users on a trip down memory lane.
A New Icon and Milestone Celebration
Starting May 14, listeners may have noticed a stylish upgrade to their home screens: the Spotify mobile app icon has been transformed into a green disco ball. According to 205focus.com, this change is just the beginning of the platform's birthday festivities, which include special data drops aimed at highlighting personal listening history.
"Spotify is where fans and artists come together, turning discovery into something personal, moments into movements and listening into community," the company noted in a press release. "To celebrate 20 years, we’ve been revealing surprising insights into our collective listening habits. And now, we’re capping off the festivities with a special gift just for you."
Relive Your Musical Journey
The centerpiece of the celebration is Your Party of the Year(s). This feature offers a deep dive into your unique streaming habits, including the specific date you joined the platform, your very first song streamed, your all-time favorite artists, and a curated playlist of your most-played tracks.
To access this retrospective, simply search for "Spotify 20" or "Party of the Year(s)" directly within the mobile app, or visit spotify.com/20. Please note that this experience is exclusive to mobile users.
Two Decades of Records
Spotify also released comprehensive data regarding the biggest performers in the platform's history. Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Drake currently hold the top three spots for most-streamed artists, while The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights" takes the crown as the most-streamed song. Meanwhile, "The Joe Rogan Experience" stands as the most-streamed podcast of all time on the service.
