South Alabama basketball adds forwards from D2, JUCO levels
Keyne Costa, Roderick Williams officially join Jaguars’ program
South Alabama is officially beefing up its frontcourt for the 2026-27 campaign. The Jaguars have bolstered their roster by adding forwards Keyne Costa and Roderick Williams to the mix.
Meet the New Additions
Keyne Costa, a 6-foot-8 standout originally from Belgium, joins the program after a productive two-year stint at the junior-college level with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. This past season, he averaged 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, earning honorable mention all-region honors for his efforts.
"Keyne plays incredibly hard with a competitive edge that will translate," South Alabama coach Richie Riley said. "His athleticism and size will be impactful on both ends of the floor. Pumped to have Keyne with us."
Joining him is 6-foot-6 forward Roderick Williams, a native of Magnolia, Arkansas. Williams makes his way to South Alabama after starting all 28 games last season at Division II Southern Arkansas, where he posted solid averages of 12.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
"Roderick brings a high level of skill and IQ to our program," Riley noted. "He is very efficient on the offensive end, providing great versatility. We’re excited to have him in our family and look forward to the big impact he will have."
Building for the Future
Costa and Williams are the latest pieces in a busy offseason for the Jags. They join a growing list of newcomers, including Diego Roman, Owen Kenney, Jalen Langsy, Aaron Goldstein, Davaughn Hueitt, and Lenni Kunzewitsch.
This group will integrate with a returning core that includes forwards Peyton Law and Stephen Williams, along with guards Samuel Shoptaw and Desmond Williams. The Jaguars look to build on last year's 21-12 finish, which included an appearance in the NIT against Auburn.
