Is former Auburn football WR Cam Coleman the future of the Texas Longhorns offense?

Losing Cam Coleman was undoubtedly a blow to the future of the Auburn football program. However, his high-profile arrival in Austin for the 2026 season looks like a masterful stroke of timing for Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian.

A Fresh Start in Austin

The Longhorns are looking to bounce back after a challenging 2025 campaign. Despite entering that season as the preseason No. 1 team in the nation, Texas finished with a 9-3 record and found themselves excluded from the College Football Playoff entirely.

Looking ahead to the fall, the Texas offense is set to feature a high-octane connection between returning starting quarterback Arch Manning and the dynamic former Auburn wide receiver. Speaking at the SEC spring meetings on Tuesday, Sarkisian expressed his excitement about integrating Coleman into the roster.

“Cam’s been a great addition. I think when you turn on the tape from his time at Auburn, it’s very easy to see the skill set, the size, the speed, the playmaking, ability and the 50-50 balls,” Sarkisian told 205focus.com.

Proven Production

Coleman arrives in Texas with a strong track record. During a standout freshman season at Auburn, he racked up 37 receptions for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, earning both SEC All-Freshman honors and preseason first-team All-SEC recognition in 2025. He continued to build on that foundation last year, hauling in 57 passes for 708 yards.

Beyond the raw stats, it is Coleman’s character and work ethic that have caught the attention of his new coaching staff. Sarkisian emphasized that the receiver is a perfect fit for the Longhorns' culture.

“What you don’t see under the hood when you take the helmet off is the human being. This guy’s an awesome human,” Sarkisian noted. “His work ethic is incredible, and it’s a great way to add to a team that already has some talented people on it.”

Sarkisian added that Coleman has seamlessly integrated into the locker room, saying, “To say your hardest, your best players, your hardest workers, Cam Coleman fits right into that, and he’s a great teammate. From a player perspective, we’re very fortunate to have him. From the teammate perspective, we might even be more fortunate to have him.”

While Texas and Auburn are not slated to clash during the regular season, a potential high-stakes matchup remains on the table for the SEC Championship Game this December.
