What is the revenue split for Tuesday’s soccer match at Jordan-Hare Stadium?

In the evolving landscape of college athletics, securing diverse revenue streams has become a top priority for universities nationwide. To supplement budgets and support student-athletes, schools are increasingly turning to on-campus concerts and high-profile special events. The latest example at Auburn is Tuesday’s international soccer showdown between Argentina and Iceland at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Financial Breakdown

Auburn is hosting the highly anticipated match in partnership with the event’s promoter, Unified Events LLC. According to a memorandum of understanding obtained by 205focus.com, Auburn is set to claim 60 percent of the net revenue generated by the event.

Rhett Hobart, Auburn's deputy athletic director for external affairs and chief revenue officer, noted that the strategy focuses on fiscal growth without burdening fans. "We continue to try to find ways for us where we can drive revenue for the athletic department without having to increase the price of Auburn athletic events," Hobart explained. "Events like this bring in great revenue for the department. We also expect a 10 plus million-dollar economic impact to Auburn as a city."

Participant Payouts and Logistics

The financial agreement outlines specific guarantees for the competing national teams. Argentina is slated to receive $2.4 million—a figure inclusive of all travel-related expenses—with additional bonuses tied to specific ticket sales milestones. Meanwhile, Iceland is guaranteed $325,000, which also covers their travel costs.

Per the memorandum, the responsibility to provide these payments rests with the promoter, Unified Events LLC. The documentation also mandates that Auburn must pay the promoter $2.4 million shortly after the execution of the agreement.

Tickets and Sponsorships

Auburn fans with premium football ticket packages are seeing the benefits of this partnership, as they retain "first-right" access to purchase tickets in their standard seating locations for the soccer match. Furthermore, the agreement grants Auburn Sports Properties the rights to 15 percent of the field-level LED sponsorship inventory.

Fans can catch the action on Tuesday when Argentina and Iceland take the pitch at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
